Pretty in Pink {Pottery Barn inspired} Bedside Table: The Reveal!
Whew! Finally we are at the reveal for this project! Life has gotten in between me and the final coat of Polyacrylic for this one. But now here it is, all set in its place in Pip’s room:
Here’s Pottery Barns’ version:
I used Ana White’s plans for the Farmhouse bedside table as a basis to start and then make a few changes so that it looked more like Pottery Barn’s version. Obviously I added a drawer (one more than Ana’s and one less than PB’s!). I would have made 3 drawers, but I wanted as much space underneath the table as possible because of the heating vent under the table. I’m thinking that vent is going to get a good dose of some white spray paint. Soon.
I added decorative legs as close to the PB version as I could get locally.
Ana has an additional 1×2 at the bottom edge of the box on each of the sides. I left that off since PB’s didn’t have that feature.
I only used one drawer knob for each drawer rather than Pottery Barn’s two. Since I didn’t use drawer glides, I think it will be easier to open these drawers with a knob in the middle. Otherwise I think you would have to use both knobs to pull the drawer open evenly.
One more thing crossed off the list for Pip’s room!

And still to come: Dressing up Pip’s dresser with some molding and paint, freshening up her desk with paint and a new fabric seat, some custom closet love, a custom shade for the new lamp (I love that lamp!), and finally curtains. I hope you’ll join me for the rest of this adventure!

All of the hardwork that you’re putting in is definately worth it!!! The room is gorgeous =) The furniture is incredible!!!
Thanks so much Debbie!
That looks fantastic! I think I prefer your version to Pottery Barn’s. I’m cringing a bit as I type this because I love the knobs, but I think dark knobs would better tie the nightstand in with the bed and built-ins.
That lamp will be so fun to customize a shade for!
I did think about that knob situation, but I was afraid of getting too matchy-matchy. I’m going to be adding the dark knobs to the dresser as well, so in that small square there was going to be a LOT of oil rubbed bronze! I thought I might get away with it not looking too out of place because of the lamp–kinda the same look–but we’ll see, I might end up changing them out once I’ve got it all in place. This is why I need you to live closer! I stand in the aisles at HD and Lowes for WAY TOO LONG thinking about all of this!
Thanks for saying you like mine better than PB’s–made my day
I saw this on Ana’s page – that is adorable. How cool to have built virtually an entire bedroom suite yourself.
Thank you so much!
Oh my goodness!!! That is such a pretty table! I can’t wait to check out your other posts on this room!
Thanks so much Shelley!
